Thanks for the gift of support!

August 16, 2012

The saying goes, and it’s true, “It is better to give than to receive.” We recently celebrated 80 years of being in the community by giving a big present to the MS Society Utah-Southern Idaho Chapter. We have lots of favorite days of the year, but the ones that lead the list by far are always when we get to surprise the organizations we love with “the Big Check”.

When we say that “we” gave them a big gift, it really means “you” – all of our customers, vendors, and associates who donated, participated, and helped spread awareness. Without you and your amazing generosity and kindness we wouldn’t have had the chance to feel the warm fuzzies that come with providing great organizations with money and support. We may have wrapped the gift, but it really came from you!

Our awesome associates started racing to the grand total by raising funds to enter the first annual Dashing Dairy Derby. The vendors kept the total on par at the halfway point at the annual golf tournament. All of the customers finished strong by purchasing an incredible amount of icons and Harmons brat meals. At the end we were able to pass along a gift of $244,287. The support given to riders on Team Harmons helped to push the total for Bike MS: Harmons Best Dam Bike Ride to more than $1.6 million.

Throughout the year we call out to you, our community, to help us support great organizations like the MS Society Utah-Southern Idaho Chapter, Special Olympics Utah, and the Utah Food Bank. Each and every time you step up with amazing support to help these organizations that do so much work and provide much needed assistance for those in our local areas. The financial support raised for our local MS chapter aides in supporting research, professional and community education, referral programs, support groups, financial assistance and scholarships, wellness programs, and much more. Multiple Sclerosis affects 1 in 300 people in our state. Utah has one of the highest incidence rates in the country and our local chapter serves more than 46,000 people impacted by the disease in Utah and Southern Idaho. Thank you for enabling us to continue supporting these causes in our community!
