Lighten Up Appetizers

We’re in the middle of eating season. For weeks now, food has been everywhere—special breakfasts, office luncheons, edible holiday treats, extra desserts, big meals, and… appetizers.

One of the most disappointing ways to waste a good meal is to fill up beforehand on heavy appetizers. If you agree, or are just looking for a way to lighten up your appetizers, keep the following in mind:

Think small

When choosing or putting together an appetizer dish, remember a little taste is best. Thinly slice meats and cube up the cheese into small tastes.  Small servings of fine ingredients go a long way in the flavor department.

Aim for Balance

Are you bringing a plate of Creminelli meats or Beehive cheese?  Be sure to include veggie sticks and thinly sliced fruit and berries to balance the richness.

Make at least half of them fruits and vegetables

Just like your holiday plate, keep your appetizers light by majoring on the fruits and vegetables.
