Did you know? All of our peaches and nectarines this month are coming to us from growers in California’s central valley known as Brandt Farms? These growers keep their peaches on the tree until they reach a peak Brix level (measure of sweetness) specified by Harmons. And they are shipped to Harmons stores in single layers to avoid damage in transit. Brant Farm owners Wayne and Eleanor will be visiting Harmons stores July 5-7 to offer samples of their fruit!
How to select: Choose peaches with firm, fuzzy skins that yield to gentle pressure when ripe. Avoid blemishes. Choose firm nectarines with smooth skin.
How to store: Store unripe peaches and nectarines in a paper bag. When ripe, store at room temperature for use within two to three days.
Nutrition: Peaches and nectarines are good sources of vitamins A and C, potassium, and fiber.
