As the temperatures rise, we turn our attention to staying hydrated. Let’s investigate how these different options measure up:

Sports Drinks: Although they contain useful electrolytes, most also contain a lot of added sugar. However, they can be useful to replenish electrolytes when exercising over an hour or sweating excessively.
Caffeine: Caffeine may signal the body to urinate more quickly. Most caffeine containing drinks also include added sugar, so they are not the best option for sustained hydration.
Food: Consider that many fruits and veggies have a high water content. Eating more of these foods contributes to good hydration as well.
Water: This classic is almost always the best choice! Keep a water bottle on hand to consistently sip throughout the day.
