Breast Cancer Awareness Month

October 21, 2020
| Created by Genevieve Daly, RDN, CD

Do you know someone who has been affected by breast cancer? With 1 in 8 women being diagnosed with breast cancer in her lifetime, chances are you do. October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month, intended to increase attention and support for the awareness and detection of breast cancer in men and women. Here are two things to keep in mind this month:

Cancer Screenings Matter!

In 2015, only 65% of women who should have received a mammogram actually had one! Early detection has been shown to save lives, so if you’re a female who’s 40 years or older, make sure you’re getting an annual mammogram. Here are the dates and locations for our remaining mobile mammogram events at Harmons:

  • St. George: October 29
  • City Creek: November 4
  • Bangerter Crossing: December 10

These events are open to both associates and customers, and can be scheduled by calling Intermountain Healthcare at 385-266-4437.
