Seafood Frenzy is almost here!! Here are a few special seafood options you’ll want to keep on your radar:

Dry-Packed Scallops

At Harmons, we only sell dry as opposed to wet-packed scallops that are commonly sold elsewhere. What makes dry-packed scallops so much better?

  • Wet scallops are packed in a sodium solution which causes them to retain more moisture. Wet scallops can appear larger than dry scallops, but a lot of that weight you’re paying for is additional water rather than more meat.
  • Wet scallops absorb some of the sodium they’re packed in, making them a higher sodium option than dry scallops

  • Dry-packed scallops release less liquid during the cooking process. This gives them a browner crust after cooking.
  • Dry-packed scallops tend to have a more delicate and tender texture compared to the rubbery texture you can get from wet-packed scallops.

Check out this deliciously seasonal Scallops with Blood Orange Sauce recipe.

Cold-Water Lobster

Our seafood departments carry cold-water lobster rather than the warm-water lobster that you may find elsewhere. Cold-water lobster is known to have a firmer, whiter meat with an overall superior taste. Try this awesome Lobster Thermidor recipe for a unique way to serve it to your family.

Wild Gulf Shrimp

Harmons carries wild Gulf shrimp rather than farm-raised shrimp. Our seafood specialists steam shrimp fresh in-store daily, providing you with a much fresher option to enjoy at home. Check out these unique Shrimp and Goat Cheese Stuffed Portabellos for recipe ideas beyond the classic shrimp cocktail.

Snow and King Crab

Our crab legs at Harmons have a slightly sweet flavor to them, making them perfect for simple appetizers, or eating them plain with butter or lemon wedges. Here’s an easy yet elegant Crab and Leek Baguette Bites recipe to munch on prior to dinner.

These are just a few of the ways you can take advantage of our Seafood Frenzy, December 31, 2020 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m.
