Game Day Sunday is just around the corner! Whether you’ll be cheering on the Bengals or Rams, or watching strictly for the commercials, no viewing party is complete without a few tasty snacks on hand. If you’re working on your health and nutrition resolutions, don’t feel like you have to compromise on flavor. There are an abundance of small plate recipes that are nutritious and delicious! Here are a few appetizer ideas that everyone at your watch party can enjoy.

Caprese Bites

For a refreshing take on finger food, try these bite-sized caprese skewers. Mozzarella, which is naturally lower in calories than other cheeses, cherry tomatoes, fresh basil, and a drizzle of balsamic make for a tasty appetizer.

Yogurt Herb Dip

The real party hasn’t started unless there’s a dip out for snacking. If you’re looking for a healthier alternative to a classic sour cream and onion dip, give a yogurt herb dip a try. Just mix low or nonfat Greek yogurt, lemon juice, minced garlic, green onion, and chopped fresh herbs like dill, chives, or parsley. Let the mixture sit in the fridge for one hour to help the flavors meld together. Here is a simple recipe for inspiration but play around with the ingredients and proportions to create something that you enjoy.

Fajita Kabobs

For a snack that’s a little more substantial, try baking some Harmons chicken or beef Fiesta Fajita mix and fresh cut pineapple to create produce and protein-packed kabobs. You can even get creative with this recipe for shrimp fajitas for a good source of lean protein and omega-3 fatty acids

Baked Hummus

Hummus and vegetables go together like peanut butter and jelly, but baked hummus kicks the flavor up a notch. Choose one of Harmons’ made-from-scratch hummus options to cover the bottom of a small baking dish, top with spinach and tomato slices, and bake in the oven at 350 degrees for 15-20 minutes. Dip your vegetables slices in this smooth, slightly crispy dip and enjoy!

Harmons Corn and Back Bean Salad

If you’re powered by plants, look no further than Harmons corn and black bean salad, made fresh in our kitchens! This zesty salad is delicious on its own or served with tortilla chips for dipping.

Continuing to make small, simple swaps for healthier recipes adds up to some major health benefits down the road. If you have questions about nutrition or are looking for more healthy recipes and products, reach out to your Harmons dietitian at dietitian@harmonsgrocery.com.
