Does it cost money to use the chargers?

Both the fast charger and the level 2 chargers are free. For the fast charger, you need to download the EV Structure Mobile App to activate the charger. See instructions below.

Do I need a RFID card to use the fast charger?

No, you don’t need a RFID card to use the fast charger. You just need to download the EV Structure Mobile App on your phone. See instructions below.

How do I use the level 3 charger (Tellus fast charger)?

  1. Go to your app store (Google Play or Apple App Store) on your phone to download the EV Structure Mobile App.
  2. Open the app and either click on the station from the map (zoom in on the city and find the 3 stations listed here) or type the station ID (listed on the screen of the charger). You can also use the QR code scanner on the app to identify the charger.
  3. Insert the correct connector into your vehicle (CCS and CHAdeMO). Using plug adaptors with a fast charger is NOT recommended.
  4. Swipe the button on the app to start charging. (It can take a few minutes to get going.)

How do I use the level 2 charger (Juicebar)?

You do not need an app to use the level 2 Juicebar chargers. Plug the charger into the vehicle and it will automatically start charging or use vehicle specific protocol to start charging. The J1772 connection can be used by most vehicles.

What do I do if the charger doesn’t work?

If you are having problems, please call 949-945-2000 or email: support@evgateway.com. If you are unable to get the charger to work after calling the support line, please report the inoperable charger to the guest services in the store.

Is there a limit on how long I can use the free chargers?

We ask that you only use the chargers for a maximum of 2 hours while you are shopping.

Were grant funds used to pay for these chargers?

Grant funds from the Utah Department of Environmental Quality’s Workplace Electric Vehicle Charging Funding Assistance Program and Rocky Mountain Power’s Plug-in Electric Vehicle Custom Project Funding program helped cover the cost of chargers and installation. Harmons covered the remainder of the cost of the project and funds the ongoing maintenance and use of the chargers.

Why did Harmons install EV charging stations at its stores?

At Harmons, our commitment to a sustainable future is part of being a good neighbor. Caring for the environment ensures our world will remain a safe and healthy place for our associates, our community, and future generations.

We are all aware of the air quality issue we face along the Wasatch Front and that vehicles are a huge contributor to our poor air quality. Supporting a growing network of free EV chargers enables us to be part of the long-term solution to this issue.

Supporting our community’s transition to electric vehicles is an important part of these efforts since increasing the number of electric vehicles on our roads can help address the air-quality problem in the Salt Lake Valley. Providing this opportunity and service to associates and customers reflects Harmons values and commitment to our community.
