Donut Shop

Dutch immigrants introduced the first oily cakes (or olykoeks, as they were often called) to America in the early 1800s. During World War I “Doughnut Lassies” served fried treats to soldiers as a culinary reminder of home. Despite the terrible events that were occurring worldwide, these were bright moments in the history of doughnuts. Join us for this hands-on class where Chef Jake will show you how to recreate these sweet historic pastries in your own home. We will be focusing on cake and yeast-raised donuts, as well as various icings, fillings, and glazes.
