Family Night: Tamales

The art of making tamales is passed down from generation to generation, and there is something truly special about making tamales from scratch. Join Chef Freyka to create family memories to last a lifetime. Come and learn about tamales as we guide you through the process with the ease of someone who grew up making them. Though intimidating to a newcomer, they’re not difficult. You just need the right number of family members!

Mexican Tamale Dough
Pork Shoulder in Chile Sauce (Tamales Rojos de Puerco)
Easy Creamy Refried Beans
Mexican Spanish Rice
Horchata Drink (chef-prepared)

Each seat purchased includes a chef-prepared kit with all the ingredients you will need to create your recipes. Each kit contains ingredients for a family of 4, each family will have ingredients to make approximately 20 tamales. Additional seats may be purchased for additional servings.

  • Kit Pickup: Please pick up your ingredient kit at Traverse Mountain Cooking School on Wednesday, March 10th, from 1:00 p.m. to 4:30 p.m.(if you need a later time, please just let us know)
