Every Day Should Be a Holiday French Toast

Serves 6-8
INGREDIENTS:
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 tsp Honest John Orange Bitters
  • 1/2 tsp ground cinnamon
  • 1 tsp orange zest
  • 1/2 tsp ground nutmeg
  • 1/2 tsp ground cloves
  • 1 Tbsp butter, divided , or more as needed
  • 6 slices (1-inch thick) dry challah bread
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 6 Tbsp maple syrup , or more to taste
DIRECTIONS:

Whisk milk, eggs, Honest John orange bitters, sugar, nutmeg, and salt together in a bowl.

Heat 1 1/2 teaspoons butter in a skillet over medium heat. Working in batches, dip each slice of challah bread in the egg mixture and cook in the hot butter until golden, 2 to 3 minutes per side, adding more butter as needed. Transfer French toast to a plate and tent with foil.

Top each slice with 1 tablespoon maple syrup. Enjoy!
