Serves 2
INGREDIENTS:
  • 1/2 cup (75 g) Caffe Ibis whole beans, "medium-fine" grind
  • 1 3/4 cups (400 g) filtered water
  • 24 (350 g) rectangular ice cubes
DIRECTIONS:

Add water to coffee maker’s water reservoir.

Begin brew cycle without any coffee. Once ½ cup of hot water is in carafe, turn-off coffee maker. Insert coffee filter into brew basket and add coffee.

Pre-infuse ground coffee by evenly pouring hot water from carafe over bed of ground coffee in brew basket. (This allows the coffee to de-gas (bloom) and ensures even saturation of coffee grounds.)  Add ice cubes to carafe.

*Note: If coffee brewer has a heated plate that carafe sits on, consider putting a heat-safe plate between hot plate and carafe to prevent ice from melting too quickly.

Turn on coffee maker and brew. The concentrated brew will quickly cool and dilute to correct strength as it falls into icy carafe below.
