Join Our Sliced Cooking Competition
Sliced is a 3-day cooking competition hosted by Harmons Grocery that brings 15 home cooks head-to-head, but only 3 cooks walk away as Harmons Sliced Champions. Each course champion wins a $500 Harmons gift card and 2 tickets to the Sliced Dinner Finale on April 30th.

The competition is broken into 3 days. Each day will give 5 new cooks a chance to show their skills by focusing on a specific course.
April 9th @ 4p.m. (MDT) - Appetizer
Cooks prepare an appetizer.
April 16th @ 4p.m. (MDT) – Entrée
Cooks prepare an entrée that includes a protein, starch, and vegetable.
April 23rd @ 4p.m. (MDT) - Dessert
Cooks prepare a plated dessert.
April 30th @ 6:30p.m. (MDT) - Sliced Dinner Finale
The Sliced Dinner Finale will be held on Saturday, April 30th, where the Appetizer, Entrée, and Dessert course winners will be recognized for becoming 2016 Sliced Champions and their winning dishes will be prepared and served by our team of Executive Chefs.
The Sliced Challenge
The challenge is for each cook to create a dish that will be judged based on taste, appearance, and originality using only the ingredients from a mystery box and what’s in the kitchen.
Once the mystery box is given, each cook will have 2 hours and 30 minutes to prepare his or her dish.
Each dish will be judged and cooks will receive up to 20 points according to the following criteria:
- Taste (10 maximum points)
- Appearance & Presentation (5 maximum points)
- Originality & Creativity (5 maximum points)
The cook with the most points will win the daily course challenge!
All Sliced cooks will receive a Harmons gift basket and 1 ticket to the Sliced Dinner Finale.
The three winners from the daily course challenges will receive two tickets to the Sliced Dinner Finale and a $500 Harmons gift card.
How to Become a Contestant
If you would like to participate in the Sliced cooking competition, please submit your entry no later than March 16th at 11:59 p.m. (MDT).
Fill out the entry form below and click “Submit Entry Form” to officially enter. Please note that you can submit an entry for all three categories (Appetizer, Entrée, or Dessert). However, you can only be selected to participate in one category.
Contestants will be chosen and contacted by March 31st.
If you are selected to participate, Harmons will contact you by March 31st. Each selected contestant will be required to attend one of the following orientations:
- Appetizer Competitors - April 7th @ 7p.m.
- Entrée Competitors - April 14th @ 7p.m.
- Dessert Competitors - April 21st @ 7p.m.
You will be given an equipment tour, store tour and be able to ask any questions you may have before the competition date."
Competition Rules & Regulations
- No professional cooks or chefs.
- No sabotage toward other cooks.
- No disrespectful language or behavior.
- Participants may only use the ingredients from the mystery box and what’s in the kitchen.
- No electronic devices allowed during the competition. This includes, but is not limited to, cell phones, watches, tablets, laptops, etc.
