Eating for Exercise: Fuel Your Fitness Goals

In this episode of the Taste of Harmons Podcast, Dietitians Sarah Kiel and Heather Lieber join our hosts to discuss eating for exercise and how to fuel your body properly.

At Harmons, our seven dietitians focus on healthy eating, healthy shopping choices, and—as in this particular podcast episode—talking about nutrition to get the most out of whatever you are trying to do with your day.

Whatever workout or exercise you choose, making the right choices for both pre- and post-workout fueling can make all the difference.

Dietitian Sarah points out that you don’t have to adopt a drastic workout routine. She suggests finding hobbies that are fun and provide exercise, whether it’s riding a bike, walking your dog, rock climbing, or whatever gets you moving. The key is to find something you enjoy that will make your exercise a sustainable habit.

Before a workout it’s best to eat easy-to-digest carbohydrates. Pre-workout is not the time to try something new. And do you need sports drinks or is plain water better? Is pickle juice really a good choice, and why would you drink chocolate milk?

For more tips and the answers to these pressing questions, and more, you’ll want to tune into the podcast, and gear up for a healthy, happy 2021.
